Tell us about yourself and the patient in your life:
Magnolia, who goes by Maggie, is 1 of 4 in our family. She was girl #3. We did had no signs of differences during pregnancy and it took 13 months to get an answer. Although we have a diagnosis her seizures did not start until after her 4th birthday. That was a new struggle to treat. She is a social butterfly. LOVES to dance and play mom to her baby dolls. Maggie loves animals as well and will pet them until you make her stop. We do have a current treatment for her seizures but know this is only temporary and have hopes she continues to progress and live a long quality life.
What is your hope for the future for your loved one:
My hope is that her siblings generation will make inclusion a priority. We hope the healthcare system will continue to add services and better options for the necessary medication and equipment without burdening the family and relying on nonprofit organizations. We hope resources will become easily accessible without having to fight and advocate on a daily basis.
